I had the same problem and it just died. Where did you buy yours? I want another one so bad.
Uh, I guess the best thing to do is to get another one. Just be sure your giving it the right amount of water.
Okay, the Venus has trip hairs on the inside of the leaves...when triggered they close the leaf forming the trap.
However, they have a limited life.they generally only activate around three or so times and then stop...so that particular leaf dies off.
The problem is these plants sit around in shops and people think it's a great idea to trigger the leaves and watch them close...the problem is of course that by doing so they are using up the plant's limited number of trap activations and the plant gets no nutrients from it happening because it isn't actually a fly that's doing it.
In short, the plant starves to death.
You need to buy a new plant, the younger the better as that way it's less likely to have been messed about with in the shop.
the trick to Venus fly traps is all in the care... they like humidity, lots of light, and clean water.. i put mine under a flourescent light and it loves it... i recommend buying distilled water and water them from the bottom by filling up a dish and setting it in it... keep it wet bright and clean don't over feed it... and you will see it thrive...
