How long can St augustine grass go without water during summer?

Question:

Answers:
I have St. Augustine and I live in Zone 10 and I never water it. It has survived 6 years with only rainfall and maybe some offspray from when I'm washing my cars.

I think it can go a long time (unless it's newly planted of course).

It is all based on temperature, humidity, and root depth. If you have a good strong lawn with moderate humidity...Your lawn can go with being watered once a week for a few hours. If it gets an very hot and dry spell...you should water just after sundown for about 15-20 minutes so that the lawn can soak it in and not evaporate off. Do this two to three times a week.
