How long does it take for new grass to blend in nicely with the rest of the grass?

Question:the grass isn't patchy, just thick blades still after a few mows and doesn't seem to be spreading quickly.

Answers:
Well, first thing is making sure your putting down the same type of grass thats already in your yard. Second its going to take some time to spread. Fertilizer will help you may have to do it every month but everytime you do it you have to make sure you water the lawn for a least 30 min. You may have to do some research, for example St. Augustine grass is really thick and likes to be cut high. Centipede is not as thick and likes to be cut lower and is more a true green, not dark and lush like st. Augustine. I found the best yard treatment is Perfect Gardener Weed and Feed, it weeds more than feeds but is great. Its might take a while for it to blend in with the old grass, but also if you have dips and unlevel sections of your yard take some top soil and put it in the low spots not a lot just cover lightly wait until the grass comes out of the dirt and add every time the grass comes out. until its level

4 years and counting here.....If you fertilize and water it regularly, it will catch up faster than if you didn't. You may also need to thatch the older areas.
