How often do you water a lawn?

Question:

Answers:
1''-2'' of water typically. Mornings are the best time to water. Watering at night will promote disease and insect activity. Water deep and infrequent. Meaning more at one time and less often throughout the week. You can monitor how much water your lawn is recieving by putting a coffee can or a soup can on the lawn where your watering and then measure the amount of water that is collected in the can when your done.

Also if your worried about keeping a green lawn in the summer, keep your mower blades sharpened. Once a year may not be enough..look at the tips of the grass blades and that will be your indicator. If they are shreaded then its time to sharpen them. That will play a HUGE roll in how your lawn looks this time of year. Dull blades will give your lawn a yellowish/grayish overcast. That is not what you im sure. The height of cut, and keeping your blades sharp are the two most important things you can do to maintain a great looking lawn

I water my lawn on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The best time I have found to water my lawn is around 3am. In my area, this is typically the lowest point of temperature, The higher the temperature, the more water vapor you emit, thus not as much water gets on your lawn!
I don't I live in an apt.~ Have a great day courtesy of Jesus.
It depends on where you live. If you live somewhere warm then it's best to water twice a day for 8-10 minutes. I only know if it is warm because I live in Arizona. But, I know a good rule of thumb is to make sure that the sun will not be shining it's hottest times while there is water on the grass. That just cooks the grass.
How often should you or how often do I? LOL!

Depends on how much rain you get in your area, how slow the rain is (how much runs off vs. how much soaks in), the type of grass you have, and the humidity (as low humidity will cause it to evaporate faster).

It is best to do a good soaking 2 times a week than to water a little bit each day. The good soaking causes the roots to grow deeper instead of growing just at the surface, and deeper roots will cause you to have to water less in the future.

Don't water at night.

How often do I? Never
It depends on where you live.

As a general rule of thumb, grass likes moist soil and cool temps. If you live in a hot dry area, you need to water much more than if you live in a cool, wet climate.

There is no single guideline as to how often to water a lawn. In general lawns require 1" to 1 1/4" of water every 7-10 days and watering should be deep and thorough enough to moisten the soil 6 to 12 inches deep. Check the depth by inserting a spade or trowel in the ground and pulling the sod back to see how far down the moisture seems to go. Just replace the grass after you're done by stepping it down with your foot. Won't hurt the grass a bit.

Wait between watering as long as possible before doing so again. Frequent, short waterings may make a lawn appear green and healthy, but if the water only reaches the top couple inches of soil, the roots will remain in that area, never digging deep enough to promote a truly healthy lawn.

Overwatering can promote fungus and disease as well as wasting the water you use. Early mornings are the best time to water. Try not to water past 9 or 10 a.m. and do it much earlier if you can. If mornings don't work for you, do it in the early evening hours leaving enough time before dark for the grass to dry off a bit. Constantly leaving your lawn wet at night promotes those fungi and diseases.

Hope I helped!
I live in a city that restricts us to watering only on odd days if your house number is odd, even days if house number is even. We water our lawns depending on the weather forecasts and make a judgement at the fly. On a good week, we'll water twice but since our lawns are more weeds than anything, we don't need to water as much.
