Can you graw a strawberry plant by planting seed that has taken out from a brought strawberry?

Question:I want to plant it in a pot because i live in rented house and dont plant a strawberry plant without me tasting ane fruit but I could plant some coz i wont be moving till next year. My pot is 20cm

Answers:
In nature the strawberry seed is consumed by birds along with the fruit and germinates once it has been excreted, from inside a pile of guano. In the bird's stomach the seed is acid-treated which I think it requires to germinate. I did read that you can get a good rate of germination from berries by putting them in a little water and keeping them wet while they rot, although when I tried I didn't manage to keep them moist enough.

It's possible.

Try a strawberry bought from a farmers market or the organic section of the supermarket, though. They will more likely be fresh and not treated with any hormones or chemicals which can inhibit a seed's ability to germinate.

It can't hurt to try. If you're eating them anyway, it won't cost you anything.
Try it and let us know what you come up with.

You might first germinate it in the dark on a moist paper towel, examining it with a magnifying glass for the first signs of germination. If it does germinate, then transfer it to seedling soil, a very light mix of potting soil available from the nursery. Just use something like an egg carton to plant the germinated seeds in and then go on from there once they've sprouted and have made a good start.

Just planting them in soil might not be very effective. But you never know until you try as duby says.
