Will my asparagus grow?

Question:I bought a bunch of asparagus crowns that arrived around Febuary. Unfortunatly, the landscapers who were building a raised garden for me disappeared. Long story short, I just got done putting the crowns into the ground now. They have been sitting in the box since they arrived, but some of the roots were moldy, but the main crown looked okay on all of them. I know it's late in the season, but what are the chances they will grow?

Answers:
Well, mold isn't a good sign, of course, but if you clean them up as much as possible by washing off the roots, I think you'll have a good chance since the crowns still look good. They'll be so happy to get in the ground, they may very well take hold quickly. Good luck, I love asparagus!
