Is the English rose the most beautiful flower in the world, despite its thorny side?

I agree. English Roses are wonderful. I am not a big fan of the neat hybrid tea roses. Old English roses are definitely the best - big and beautiful and their smell is amazing. They are also incredibly easy to look after and seem to thrive on neglect in many situations.
I even had Old English Roses in my wedding bouquet and button holes.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I know of no better perennial than roses.
