Staking peppers?
Question:Should I stake sweet pepper plants and if so, how many stakes?
Answers:
You do not need to stake peppers. All you need to do is make sure the dirt is mounded up around the base of the plant. As it gets taller continually hoe dirt up around it so that at least 6 inches of plant is covered from the roots up. If you really want to stake them nothing wrong with that, it will give you peace of mind that it will not fall over, you only need one sturdy stake about 3 feet long and put into the ground about 6-8 inches deep. Make sure when you tie it that you leave it loose so it does not cut into the plant. Happy Gardening!
you could but ive never stake any before just tomatoes they dont really grow that high and what grows on them are not heavy never seen anyone do it i vote no just alot more work to do
I would leave them alone, unless they are really laying over on the ground (unusual) if you have to stake them use little strips of pantyhose to tie them to the stakes, it is gently on the stalks.
I have grown a variety of pepper plants and never had to stake them, but if for some reason yours become top-heavy and need staking, you can certainly stake them with one or two thin bamboo or metal or wood stakes inserted near the stalk. You can even use a tomato cage if you have a spare.
I stake my pepper plants. I just put one good sturdy stick in the ground beside it and tie it up. Sort of like how you would a tomato plant. My plants always get big and tend to lean.
Pepper plants should not need staking. Their stems are sturdy and they don't grow as tall as tomato plants.
