How often should i water roses?

Question:im a carpenter on a job site, and the homeowners went out of town for a few weeks. they asked me if i could water there garden, is every other day fine? please let me know.

Answers:
Every other day should be fine if it's hot & dry, less if it's cool (below 85) even.

Stick your finger in the soil near the plant and if it's moist up at the top, don't water; but, if it's dry down to about 2-3 inches, go ahead and water.

(I'm up in Lake County, so I know what the weather's been like for you.)

OH- PS- don't spray the foliage/flowers, just water down by the base of the plant.

how hot is the area? every other day should be fine.
They need at least an inch of water per week. I use a soaker hose and I hope they have one. If not, water them deeply at least twice a week. If they are new plants, water them deeply every other day.
look to the roses for clues, the leaves will droop if they are thirsty especially in hot water. Look at the ground around them. If it's still damp they don't need water. Amount and frequency depend on soil type. If the water drains fast you can water more often. Roses don't like to be soggy but they love water.
