How do you adjust Hunter sprinkler heads?
Question:Underground sprinkler heads can be adjusted for how far they spray and/or the stream characteristics ( fine stream or thick spray). I have a plastic key but unsure how to use it.
Answers:
turn the zone on that you want to adjust. look at the head, there is a little triangle on top of where the water is coming out. This is where you use the allen key part of the tool. Put the allen key in and turn it clockwise to make the throw shorter or counter clockwise to make it longer. Just be careful, once the throw doesn't get any more distance, stop turning. The nozzle will come out if you do. The right adjustment is made by taking a wrench turning the entire head,There is another hole that has a circle with an arrow and a plus sign, this is for the left adjustment. This is where you use the other end. Put it in and turn the tool until you feel it drop down into the groove. Turn the tool toward the arrow to open the radius of the head or the opposite way to close it. The best way to get comfortable adjusting a sprinkler head, is if you have a head that rotates in a full circle. No matter how bad you mess it up, you just open the circle back up when you are done.
In the actual top of the sprayer heads there are holes that the key fits into. One hole is obvious and one is marked with an x cut in the plastic but is not obvious to the eye. Just have a careful play around till you find them. You use both ends of the key with the one I have used. Whatever adjustments you make can be altered back again so it's just trial and error if you are not used to them. When turning the key take it slowly as it doesn't need much key work to do quite large alterations. If your still lost see your local irrigation shop or see if Hunter has an Internet site.
