Is it possible to rescue an almost dry lawn?
Question:I haven't been spending much time at home, so no watering, and our lawn is suffering badly, there's almost no grass left. Can i still save it or just give up on it?
Answers:
Fertilizing is the worst thing you can do for the lawn in that state of condition. The lawn has "shut down" and is suffering from drought stress. Putting fertilizer down and "forcing" it to grow, is a no no at this time, it will only add to the stress already shown. The shutting down by the grass is its way of preserving what little moisture is left. By shutting down, it will not have to find a water source that is no longer available. Providing you still have grass blades visible, and assuming it is just really browned out, all it needs, is to be soaked real good in order for it to come out of dormancy. And when I say soaked, I mean soaked everyday, for about a week and a half straight. Water early in the morning say, around 7 o'clock or before if possible, this is the best time, not at nite like so many other misinformed people will tell you. You don't want to water at night or early evening, for this will make the lawn susceptible to diseases. You want the lawn to be "dry" when nite time rolls around. Turf diseases thrive on moist, cool, humid conditions, just what you will give them if you water at nite. So, water the heck out of it everyday for about a week and a half, and you should see it start to green up a little and begin to grow. Once it gets greened up, then it will be ok go put down some fertilizer. Once it greens up and you see it actively starting to grow, you can try and get on a normal watering schedule depending on the temperatures in your area. Hope this answers your question...

It depends on what you mean by NO grass. If your lawn has turned to pure dirt, then you will need to reseed (or get alot of plugs). If you have alot of brown spots and crunchy grass, then you need to fertilize and start watering, the lawn will recover. I would recommend Scott's turf builder or Miracle-Gro lawn fertilizer. You should also water well every-other day, to ensure proper soil moisturization.
YES U CAN SAVE IT. JUST WATER IT 12-15 MIN A DAY ON A TIMER THEN YOUR GRASS WILL BECOME GREEN
Water it well, about every other day or so depending on the temps. It should come back.
