How many inches of water per week should a lawn take in a hot prairie summer to stay healthy, thick and green?

Question:

Answers:
2-3 inches a week and it's best to water in the early morning (between 6 and 7 a.m.) also if in the middle of the summer your lawn looks a little shabby do not fertilize. fertilizing will dry out your lawn even more. if your having a hard time with your lawn try fertilizing it with a high phosphorus in the spring and fall (that's the middle number in lawn fertilizers) it helps with root growth, rule of thumb the deeper the roots the better. last but not least make sure your not cutting your grass too short keep it at least 2 1/2 inches long
