Why are my roese whilting?

Answers:
Your rose could have root rot due to the over watering pratices. Let the soil dry out and then water once a week. Sap sucking bugs such as aphids remove moisture from the leaf and cause wilting. Look for scale on the rose stems. Scale suck moisture out of the stems and can cause leaves to wilt. Scale would be a series of white bumps on the rose stem. They can look like bark, so look very carefully. If you have no signs of bugs then look at the stems of your roses. Roses can get a fungal infection that results in cankers. These will be dark, sunken areas on the rose stems. If these cankers girdle the stem (circle the stem) they cut off the flow of water & nutrients to the rose leaves and the leaves wilt. If it is canker, then prune out all the stems with cankers. Prune several inches below the cankers. Clean your pruners with a 10% solution of bleach between each cutting to prevent spreading the disease. Allow your pruners to dry before the next cutting. Burn the pruned stems or bury at least 6" deep. Below are some good links on the care of roses, insect pests & diseases.

cut off any deadened parts (leaves, branches, etc.) fertilize (cause all that watering probably took the nutrients out of the soil) Use a rose spray for insects and fungus to keep it protected. Don't water more than twice a week. They like the heat.
