What should do first dig in or lay a path?

Question:I'm preparing a veg plot in clay soil. I've removed the the turf and topsoil (don't ask! lol ) I know i need to add grit for drainage and manure so do i dig this in the plot first or lay the paths around the plot. please bear with me i'm new to this gardening lark :)

Answers:
lay the path first, for easy access to dig over your plot.
then add the manure/course grit for drainage & dig well in.
i can imagine as clay is not the easiest to dig over.
big well done to you.

when you're enjoying the fruits of your labour (fresh veggies etc ) it'll be well worth all the hard work now.

i'm envious i have no room for a veggie plot but have many fruit trees, fresh fruit on demand!
consider adding some fruit bushes,
raspberries, gooseberries, etc?
good luck.

I would surely do the soil part first..then lay my path that way you would not be tamping the soil so much
I would lay my paths first because I wouldn't want to pack the garden area after I worked in my soil amendments. I also wouldn't want to waste manure on paths though depending upon yor path choice a little grit couldn't hurt at all. I used wood shavings for my garden paths in the past.
lay your partner then let him dig?
The best thing to do is lay your paths then you have a solid base to stand on, otherwise you will be compacting the soil.

The turf you have removed can be stacked in a pile, grass side down and left to rot if you dig it into your soil you will have a lot of weeding to do.If your ground isnt very good A crop of potatoes is always a good way of breaking the soil up.
Paths first. Why waste energy digging over the bit you will flatten? Keep it up lass you will get there in the end Good Luck
What I would do is dig the soil first in preparation for the veg then lay paths for easy access and where you can stand without getting too muddy.
You have to do the soil first make sure its level before laying
paving stones.Good Luck
