What essentials do i need to make a flower bed in my front yard?

Heres what I use for mine:
-Water
-Miracle Gro fertilizing liquid (follow the instructions)
-A barrier, like a low fence or some rocks
-Top soil
-Manure and rich soil
-You may want mulch, something like bark or ceder mulch
And for extras to make it look nice:
-Nice looking rocks and shells
-Gnomes or small statues
-Solar lights
-Pole hanger
-A bird feeder, or humming bird feeder to attact nice birds
-Bird bath, if you want to see lots of birds
-A small mirror
-A fountain, but that can get to expansive. If you want one gets a smaller one that you can take care of. But if you want a big one, get one that you can put fish in with water sprinkling in.
Get flowers that will flourish in your zone and sun type. Don't put a partial shade into a full sun or anything like that.
If you have a tall fence, or a trellis grow some Sweet Peas or Morning Glories on them, they will last all summer.
Get colourful flowers that will attract butter flys, and you can put fuschias (it will attact lots of butterflys) on a pole that has a hanger on it.
Get annuals, not peranials. With annuals, they bloom all summer long die off in winter so you can change things around.

It will depend upon how large of a flower bed you want to make. Some folks put a small wheelbarrow full of flowers in the front yard and use that as a flower "bed". Others cut out a huge circle of their lawn and fill it full of perennials and/or annuals and garden accents.
I started with a small area in my yard and discovered how much I really liked gardening so now I have a huge area ... and ... several small areas in other parts of the yard.
