What is a natural ant deterrent?
Question:I have many fruit trees in my back yard and most of them have ants and aphids on them. I tried lady bugs but it helped very little. There is suppose to be a sticky substance to put around the trunk of the tress, but I don't know the name of it and can't find it at the store (Home Depot, Lowes and Walmart). Help!

an anteater
That sticky substance is not a natural deterrent, but it works. Everyone is probably sold out. The only natural deterrent I know for ants is an anteater.
Can't think of what sticky substance you're trying to find, but I've heard that you can do the same thing with used coffee grounds. Ants hate coffee apparently. I don't think it kills them but it should at least keep them away from your trees.
try this:
1: pour boiling water onto ant hills or
2: lay sprigs of fresh mint where they are coming and going or
3:4-5 tbsp of cornmeal
3tbsp of bacon grease
3tbsp of baking powder
3 packages of baker's yeast
mix cornmeal, bacon grease into a paste then add the baking powder and yeast . dab the mix on the sides of jar lids and set them near the anthills. they will eat it and die
