How to use 24D?
Question:I'm trying to figure out the correct ratio of 24D to water in a one gallon sprayer to eliminate weed growth in a gravel driveway. I know that I'll probably have to apply several times. I've tried to trim the weeds back to kill them out but they keep coming back.
Answers:
24D is both a weed killer and a fertilizer for lawns. If you are trying to kill weeds in a gravel driveway you can use boiling water or you can get some muriatic acid at a paint store and dilute that 10 to one and put in a plastic plant water can and apply, do not get it on you as it will burn. It does not hurt anything once it has dried out and will keep the weeds out.
i dont believe 2-4-D is still available in ca. but years ago it was a growth inhibitor that took 1-2 weeks to kill weeds, tree stumps etc. a growth inhibitor makes the plant grow so fast it dies... strong chemical, i used to drill 10-15 holes,2-4 inches deep in tree stumps, fill with 2-4-D, 1 week, looks like youve fertilized, 2nd week its dying...soo i would use 1 cup liquid product or 1\2 cup powder\granule... if its colored, i dont know if it would stain concrete...
2,4-D is a broadleaf weed herbicide. Sometimes you will see it combined with a fertilizer and marketed as a "weed and feed" product for lawns.
Can't really advise you on mixing and use without knowing the name and concentration of the 2,4-D product (this type of product is manufactured by many companies and in many forms and strengths). The use information is usually on the pesticide label. If you can't find it, or it is missing, you can look at the company's website and probably find both use and mixing information.
Good luck!
