Having a problem w/ ticks. Is there any way to limit ticks? Some sort of spray, or something. New to this!

Question:I am new to the country life style. I notice whenever I mow the lawn, or do something out in the yard, I get a tick, somewhere on me, or my dog. Just wondering if they make something that might limit them. THANKS

Hi JT. Please forgive me for saying so but, hoo wee, the "city boy" is all over YOU!
You need to go out and meet your neighbors. Some of them have been there for generations and have been dealing with these ticks the whole long while. Do whatever they do about the ticks. If you have an actual infestation, they'll know that, from a normal amount of ticks, and they'll tell you so.in which case, you will go to your county extension office and get their advice and/or help.
In the meantime, wear bug stuff, turn what ticks you do get counterclockwise or make'm back out under a shot glass full of rubbing alcohol.
But, DO get them them off of you. Some seasons, ticks will carry Lyme disease...which can kill you. And get t' know them neighbors...they know a hell of lot more about how to live out there, than just what to do about those ticks.

Yours, enviously stuck in the city, an ol' Nebraska boy.

go to petco.com and click on out door or lawn care they have sprays for outside so does lowes.com
Umm well since you are in the country now maybe get a Guinea they are a farm bird that loves to eat nothing but ticks. You don't have to feed too much maybe a little in the winter. Or you can get sprays for your dog. However I don't think you have a tick issue. I think you just need to adjust to the country life. Here are some things not to do that city boys always seem to think will work. One is never over spray chemicals. Always follow what the label says. Too much chemical is more hazardous than any tick. Never wear a tick collar on your ankles or anywhere on your body. I know you think I am dumb for telling you this but hey I am in the Army and I have seen city slikers do that stuff before.
Talstar PL. It is an insecticide that has been impregnated on sand. You spread it with a fertilizer spreader at a rate of 1.8 pounds per 1000 sq. ft.. you'll hardly see it come out of the spreader but its there. lightly water after spreading. it'll work wonders on the ticks.
