How can I find what type of tree I have?

Question:Alright, there was this tree that a friend of mine said was a good tree for smoking meat. However, it recently was killed (ironically) by a fire and was mostly hauled away. There is a little stump and some bark left at the base. My friend says he didn't know exactly what kind of tree that it was... how can I find out?

Answers:
Most communities and counties have extension offices of the agriculture agency. I would suggest contacting the local county extension office, ask for the agriculture department and see if someone can come out and give you assistance. I know from past experience they help with water concerns, land erosion concerns, and insects.

The service is usually free.

Good Luck!

for smoking in a grill or smokehouse (like meat was smoked way back when) mesquite , hickory or apple all work and give a good smell and taste. most are available in your grocery store or department store.
lolz.haha...srry its such a funny question...i mean the they way u phrased it..you can call someone who specialize in plants to look at it, or take tissue samples and have it tested.to those place that do tests and stuff..and it should tell u..good luck.
you need to go to a plant place, and if you have some leaves left on the ground take them, and show it to them and give a description, of the tree.
