Is sticks good as fertilizer or is pea mosss better and what color is pea moss.?

Question:

Answers:
Not only is peat moss not a fertilizer, it is sterile and kills microorganism that will help your plants grow better. Avoid it if at all possible. If you need something to break up the soil add good compost or humus. Sticks are only good as fertilizer if they have been broken down into compost.

It's peat moss and it's a light brown. That's what we use instead of mulch. It's not a fertilizer though.
Peat moss will eventually add fertility to soil it has been work into. It will also raise the soil's Ph. Sticks would have the same effect - over a much longer period of time, of course.
