Paver installation.?

Question:does the soil need to be perfectly graded or can I compensate with baserock and sand?
I installed drainage pipes underneath the proposed site. Currently they are shallow, but will be approx 8-15 inches below pavers once all is completed. does this sound right?

Answers:
No, the level needn't be perfect.

Yes, you can let the rock and sand do this.

Unless this area is relatively untravled, I would go 18 - 24" down.

COMPACT THE SOIL.

You bet you have the right idea you could use soil compacter before and after baserock.
You are going to want to excavate so you have the grade you want. You will want your grade to be within about an inch of what the grade should be. When you install your base material you should put it in in 2" lifts so it gets 100% compaction. A paver job will only turn out as good as the base was installed.
