What can i use in my garden to kill grass?
Question:we have a garden with fruits and vegies in it and the grass is growing everywhere in it. i was just wondering what i can use that wont harm anything
Answers:
I use a sheet mulching system to kill the grass in my garden and establish new beds. It works great, is totally natural, recycles materials, and is not as much labor as pulling up all the grass.
First, cut the grass and weeds as short as possible. Then lay corrugated cardboard or 4-6 sheets of newspaper on top of the places you want the grass gone. Spread compost or manure on top of the paper and water well. Next, put soil on top of the compost. You can plant right into the soil. By the time the roots reach the cardboard it will be decomposing and the grass will be dead. Next season, the cardboard will be completely gone and the grass will be gone as well.
If you are not going to plant anything on top of the sheet mulch, you can just get wood chips or any kind of natural mulch to put on top. If you want to grow something green around the trees that won't compete with their roots, plant clover on top of the sheet mulching.
Good luck!

Roundup around the plants, be careful not to get them on your things, but that kills grass.
