When can i split perennials ?

Question:I have a perennial, its yellow, kind of tall, i do not know what it is. It has little clusters of flowers and it spreads a lot. My grandma wants some, when can i split it up?

Answers:
If it is dividable, then anytime you want. Just dig it up, separate the roots, and replant what you are going to keep. Have a container handy with a little loose soil to put the divisions in.

It is said the best time to thin or divide plants are in early spring or in the fall. But here is a site to give advise on successful division of perennials.
You can always go to http://www.1800topsoil.com to see if they have a local pro servicing your area. They're national.
Perennials can be split in the spring, when they are good and wet, also in the autumn after flowering, again when they have had a good soaking.
