Answering questions?

Question:Why is it that when someone asks a question there are some people that give stupid answers? The person asking, obviously dosent know the answer so why give stupid ones, or do the people giving the idiotic answers not really know the answer themselfes. Where do frogs live during the day is a perfect example there were at least 10 answers that were complete nonsense. When someone asks a question they deserve to be given an answer to the question and not a load of nonsense, what would happen if we all did this, no one would find out anything.

Answers:
Good point - have a star. I always scour the site for town planning related questions (which is my specialism) to try to keep people out of trouble. Some of the clowns who offer advice could land the asker in court. If you don't know the answer - shut up rather than write drivel just to get your points level up.

i totally agree, do they have nothing better to do?!
Why? because there are some people that get a sense of satisfaction and greater self worth from belittling other people.

It makes them feel superior.
Loosen up big wul!
there are always good factual answers given and of course some of the comedians have to let rip. It would be a dull world if we couldn't have a laugh.start and enjoy the q and A experence.
I agree with you. There are times when you really need a serious, good and comprehensive answer, but some think its humourous to waste your time. Although in some respects, some questions begs a lighthearted reply, the question presented obviously shows that. But some people, please have a heart when someone obviously needs a serious response and you dont think you have anything to offer, keep it to yourself, or save it for a question that deserves it.
They dont know the answer and want the points

in other words they are not too bright lol

I agree with you

mas
lighten up its only a laugh the world wont end because someone told someone else that frogs live in space
i agree, it's just a waste of their time, and i suppose if they are sad enough to use their time that way then they can.we can't stop them, wish we could, it really would be better for everyone!
Yea, on kidding. My GF asked a question about beer and got the answer " I don't drink beer so how should I know"? A complete idiot.
Yes, there are far too many people that use Y.Answers inappropriately. I guess allot of them never read the guidance and advice when they sign up, and almost certainly never afterwards.

I've starred your question - it should be just as easy to black mark stupid irrelevant answers, potentially leading to review of membership if this was a pattern for someone. It degrades the experience and value of the site and is something that I hope Yahoo will, in time, address.

A non-refundable cash deposit to use the site would probably stop some of it, say $20. Otherwise, more cross-membership monitoring might help. I don't usually come here to find jokes, though there is a section on YA for that too. If it expands much, then the site would go down the pan.
Yes I totalley agree but we have to bear in mind some of these answers are people just having a laugh but people do need a straight answer because remeber it is -5 points per quetion we ask so this is too all the people who put silly answers please dont and if you are the quetion asker and get silly stuff on your page email yahoo and tell them about it.
The same reason people who ask questions decide not to use spell check. Check it out next time!!!!!!!!!!...
Hi. My take is that this place has become overrun with kids.

The consumer must be aware. Some answers are factual and some are absurd. Let the questioner decide for himself. This is not the public library although some of the questions would indicate a need for one.
my first thought when i saw this was "oh no not another one"
but i have some time to kill so here goes nuthin?
depends on the Q sometimes i give a serious answer others..well check my profile!
some people on here could really do with a handfull of happy pills!
when my sister was dying of cancer at 30, on leaving my parents house (with other relatives present) i made a comment about water works, which got some laughs, and helped lighten the load for all for a bit. when i had around 5 1/2 hundredweight of steel dropped on my leg i kidded around about how i may not be working late that day. as i was carried out i saw the ashen look on the face of the workmate who was responsible, he happened to be one of the most safety conscious people i knew. when i got home i phoned him to let him know what happened. he was relieved that it was not worse, as "he" thought it was. it was just a break!
when my mother was dying of (a.l.s. for you yanks or lou gehrigs disease) motor neurone disease for the uk. i wouldnt visit if i was having a bad hair day. i would kid around and give her a laugh (it was about all she had left). life is serious enough what is the point of making it more so. if you people found yourselves in a hole would you have the sense to stop digging?
Because this place would be dull otherwise. Especially on factual questions (like the one you made a point of): all that's required is one person's correct answer and everyone else might aswell leave it.
