i bought a homelite thru lowe's i believe was right at 150 works great and no problems over past 2 years.
get a craftsman, great and reliable, from tools to lawnmowers, craftsman products last a long time.
I think it depends. If you would have been a little more specific about your requirements, I could be more helpful. Mine is a gas-powered Stihl. Stihl makes quality stuff, though for just light home use, it might be overkill. For light home use, an inexpensive gas powered one is fine of any brand. Black & Decker has a rechargable one which I haven't tried so cannot express and opinion on it other than to say, it would be for light use. For heavy use, I would say brand like Stihl would be one of the best, but that is splitting hair. Hope this helps.
I have a gas Troy-built that is absolutely awesome!! The only drawback is that it's noisy but it will cut through about anything.
