How long should it take for the corn I planted in my garden to emerge as seedlings?

Question:And, any similar thoughts as to basil?

Answers:
most thing grow at different rates but a few weeks should not be too long for most plants

7-21 days with proper care
Here's some info from eHow on how to grow corn:
http://www.ehow.com/how_1997_grow-corn.h...

" Harvest when husks are dark green, silks are dry and brown but still supple, and full-size kernels reach to the top of the ear. For most varieties, that will be about 20 days after the silks appear."
I planted some too and it took about 3 weeks for them to start popping up.
depending on the temperature and moisture as well as the type of seed it could emerge as early as 6 days and take as long as 21 days.
Usually I reseed after 2 weeks
about 2 weeks but sometimes far sooner. I planted popcorn and it sprouted within 3 days. Totally amazing! I found that the white corn varieties sprout much faster than the yellows . A lot of it has to do with soil temperature- they like it warm and a couple of cool nights will prolong your sprout time.
