Does anyone know any easy way of making a greenhouse that will suit tomatoe plants?

Question:I cant afford to buy a proper greenhouse so i need ideas on how i can make something cheaply to grow tomatoes in, has anyone grow'en tomatoes outside without any cover on them?

Answers:
why don't you buy one of the plastic ones ? they come in various sizes, have a look in your local nurseries or diy stores, or try argo.

during summer in the UK you don't need a greenhouse, my dad always grew his tomatoes outside his backdoor in a bucket, make sure you feed them once a week alternating between tomato feed and miracle gro.

good luck with your tomatoes.

Get a plastic one they are very cheap. You could try growing them outside, they taste much better..
Depends on where you live! But growing them without a greenhouse is definitely do-able! My family owns a farm in Missouri and last year we grew our tomatoes in 5 gallon buckets. We drilled a huge hole in the bottom center of the bucket and hung it up so our tomatoes actualy grew upside down! They were HUGE!! I believe that hanging them made up for the tomato cage, they just kept growing and gravity worked it's magic!
I don't know where you live, but I grow tomatoes every year outdoors in SW England, and did do when I lived in SE England.
At the moment I have 16 plants outside, and they are all in flower.
Unless you live in a very cold place there is no need to cover them unless there is a risk of frost, but the likelihood of that happening in the UK now is over.
My dad would start his in pots outside and put windows up on both sides of them and make a teepee shape. He gradually built a greenhouse that consists of sliding doors and windows.

I'm sure there is someone in your area who does work on houses who could give you some old windows to use.

Good Luck!

I just plant my tomato plants in the ground and let them grow. I don't use a greenhouse and my plants are usually around 6 ft.
go to a decent garden centre ,and you can pick up outdoor tomatoe plants from there, ive had them outside on numerous occasions and had some cracking crops off them..or click on this link at argos the bottom picture is £14.99..http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores...
hiya. tomatoe plants grow as well outside as in a greenhouse, depends on the variety and where you live. good varieties for reliable, good cropping outdoors:- moneymaker and gardeners delight. moneymaker give larger fruit but gardeners delight produce long trusses of cherry fruit up to 10p size. you should be able to get some decent size plants from a good nursery. either plant in a sunny spot in the garden with some compost dug in or try ring culture in grow bags. remember that they are a very greedy plant when fruiting, also they must not dry out - even for 1 day, this will cause the fruits to split. they will still be edible, just not look good. i'm using both methods and growing some in the greenhouse too in order to extend the season this year.
Plant your tomato's outside after the threat of frost has passed, treat them the way you would if they were grown inside/under glass. Apply a general tomato fertiliser once weekly when you have the first truss.
You can also grow them in the house in 12inch pots if you have a window sill that gets a lot of sun.
