Why dont my honey suckle grow?

Question:i planted honey suckle years ago and it started to thrive immediately. Some kids from the street got into my garden and decimated it with a stick, strange but true. then i neglected it and it got over grown by weeds and stuff. about five years ago i cleared all the weeds and it started growing and looking healthy, i built a trellissed arch for it to grow up and over. it just wont go over, it has wound its way to the top and stopped, been like that for the last few years, why is this? what can i do to help it grow big and over the arch?

Answers:
Prune it as the last person said and feed it regularly with Miracle gro or Phostrogen, that should get it going again.

You have to prune it each year or it won't grow any further. Go on www.bbc.co.uk/gardening
I thought honey suckle was a weed. To bad you don't live close I would say you could have them all. I have a back yard full of them on the back fence row.
Sounds like that Honeysuckle has never seen mulch or fertiliser in its life. Improve the soil and it will grow.
cut it back then apply a good compost at the root and feed it regular and water and watch the results
Honeysuckle prefers cool roots, place some flat stones around the base to keep the roots cool and feed it, growmore is a good choice and be patient.
It needs a good bit of sunlight tooo...So if its being shaded by trees that you can prune for more light, do so.
Lonicera (honeysuckle), after flowering thin out, apply a general purpose fertiliser to encourage new growth re-apply fertiliser early spring, tie in new shoots, mulch with well rotted manure.
Soil should be ordinary to rich, well drained. sun or light shade.
