Problem with mint?

Question:i took a big mint plant from a garden and planted it in a big pot and it has died over the last year. i kept it reasonably watered. what did i do wrong

Answers:
When keeping mint in a pot it requires a lot of water, it will also die in the middle of the pot and needs to be taken out and split, the dead thrown away, the healthy plant re-potted, every year.

I dunno mine did the same
Hello. Mint requires a big tub. You may have noticed it spreads all over the place,given the opportunity.It gets very root-bound in a pot, and probably died through lack of space.The other problem is generally mint likes it dry and shady. Watering-tap water can do damage to mint. Can you get water from rain barrel?We should only water when the soil is dry on top.And if you get insects,try just soapy dish -cleaner,with water, and use a little handsprayer. Good Luck!
Mint naturally dies down in the winter. It is best to re-pot mint every year taking a small part of the previous year's pot as the starter.
MOST but not all mints love water and lots of it - my mint generally dies off because I don't keep it watered enough. I have generally managed to redeem any mint plant just by taking a small section of a moribund pot & replating it into a bigger pot & keeping it damp. I get around 90% success with this.
sounds like you never kept it watered enough, mint is one of those plants that do well as a marginal pond plant
got my mint planted at the side of my greenhouse,not in a pot though? it does spread like wildfire and you've got to keep on top of it,and last year mine also died off ,didn't even have one leaf come up,but this year its coming back with a vengeance,i would leave it and see if it comes back next year..mine did?
It could have got pot bound.
I agree w/ Big Wull;
The plant will become potbound and if starved for water die in the center and only have roots on the outside. So take the plant out of pot.cut it in halve and plant it where u want...
Here in SC, the mint usuallly lives thru winter & if not it will go to seed and grow next season.
