I think i have hornets nest in my pine tree?
Question:i live in spain and i think i have hornets they are a bit bigger than a wasp and have 1 yellow stripe round its waist with dangly like legs how could i remove these saftly and do they sting thank you

Hornets, contrary to the cartoon image are reluctant to trouble humans unless their nest is directly threatened. The European Hornet, Vespa crabro has a reddish tinge, and is less vividly yellow than the other wasps. They do a valuable service in ridding us of many harmful garden pests. Hornets can sting, it is claimed that a Hornet sting is LESS potent than a honey bee sting. Hornets prefer areas of woodland with old trees, and rarely cause problems if not molested.
Here in the U.S., you can buy a can of hornet & wasp killer that will shoot about 20 feet away; that works well for us. I don't know if that is available where you are...
find the nest during the day, then wait untill its dark out and they are all back in the nest. You can then spray them saftely.
Get yourself a couple of cans of wasp/hornet spray. They shoot pretty far so you don't have to be too close when you spray them. Spray at night when they are all in the nest and resting. Do not hold the flashlight in your hand, place it on the ground. This is in case a few get out...they will go towards the shining light and you don't want to be holding it! Saturate the nest with the poison spray. Best of luck to you!!
hornets and wasp are easy to kill as the previous people said wait until night . If you get red cellophane and put it over your light the hornets can't see the light and you should be safe
Yes hornets sting and please believe me when I say it hurts. It is always possible to smoke them out and they will not return to the nest. But your safest bet is to contact local authority for advice as they may remove the nest for you.
If the nest is high enough not to be disturbed try to leave it in place. If you are getting stung call in a professional pest control company to treat the nest. Getting several hornet stings when at the top of a ladder is no joke (trust me I found out the hard way).
the best way is to get naked and clamber up the tree while playing drum n bass loudly on the biggest speakers you can find. shake the nest voilently before headbutting it to the ground. then jump on it and roll on top of it until all the hornets are dead. easy as that.
They don't so much sting as bite off your legs. try putting some creosote into a squirty bottle and giving them a good dose, have a track to cover ready if the gang up on you...
