Small palm tree and dead leaves?

Question:Hi i have 2 mini palms, which are means to be small, but have grown to approx 7ft, although the top of it is still thriving, from the botttom to approx 2ft the leaves are just dead, is this normal and if so whats the best thing to do, remove them, if so how.

Answers:
They are fine. The leaves at the bottom can usually be pulled off without to much effort, they will eventually fall off but they do look untidy.

The palm trees will continue to grow and spread roots far and wide. I suggest you go to a garden centre and get some specialist advice if you don't want them to grow further.

Cut the dead leaves off near to the main part of the plant.
well, if you think about it, the big palm trees you see on beaches only have leaves at the top, so im sure its quite normal. but maybe you are overwatering them?
Try re-potting them if you have them in containers. Also cut back on the water a tad. If they are in the ground then cut them back and the new growth should take over quickly. Depends on what kind of palms you have. If they are called mini palms and they grown to 7 feet then there is the problem. I would cut them back rather than dig them up and throw them away.
Your palm tree sounds quite healthy. Dont worry, just remove the dead leaves from the bottom and save them to compost. This is very natural to happen
