Pottery glaze coming off of stepping stones?

Question:I made my own flowers, leaves, hearts etc to embellish my stepping stones. I used a low fire glaze and low fire clay. After winter months were over I noticed the glaze chipping off. Any sugguestions?? TIA Jane

Answers:
yea, it's breaking off for the same reason clay pots break. It's caused by freezing water in the porous surfaces during winter. The expansion of the freezing water cracks and separates the glaze from the clay. Next time try a high fire clay and glaze.
