What to put in my rain-butt?

Question:What can i put in the water that will kill the mozzy lavae but wont harm the plants?

Answers:
You can get potassium permanganate from the chemists, this will do the trick.

There is a product that destroys the larvae and i cant remeber what its called...You can ask the council for the number of a pest control officer who should put you on the right path..
Small fish, they will eat mosquito larvae, but must be feed too.
A little bit of vegetable oil, just enough to spread out and cover the surface, will suffocate the little blighters. It will float down with the water level, so if you stop just before the butt is completely empty, none will come out at all. A little vegetable oil will not harm your plants anyway.
Try a couple of goldfish. They will appreciate the mozzies and have plenty of room to spread their gills.
I keep it covered so there's no light, never had a problem.
