How do I pull up the bushes(roots and all)in my front yard?

Question:I dont know what they are called but they are short very full bushes. They are a pain in the *#@^! They seem to be a good home for spiders and god knows what else! I live in GA...dont know if that'll help with the bush type...but I know they are common here. They seem to be hard to pull up(we tried a rope tied to the back of a truck, the rope broke!).

Answers:
the root system is very strong in some plants,

i dug one up in my yard, you have to weaken the roots first

this may souns weird, but it worked for me

i use a chainsaw, and went around the bush and a 45 degree angle, and out about 12" fron the center of the bush, then i did exactly as you did, tied a rope to my truck and pulled it out,

you may have to keep the chainsaw handy to cut some of the extra roots as the bush is coming out, but it worked for me

Hire someone.
DIG DEEP AS U CAN TAKE A HATCHETT CUT AS MANY ROOTS YOU CAN PUT A CHAIN AROUND THEM ATTACHED TO A BIG TRUCK AND WA-LA TA -TA BUSHES BEEN THER DONE THAT, OR IF YOU LIVE IN THE COUNTRY C-4 WORKS WELL YOU WILL BLOW THEM TO HELL
Bad Idea. I'm surprised you still have your bumper. My sister and me got a 50 year old Bush with deep roots, out of the ground very easy, and had a great time doing it! our Dad taught us the use of leverage. We put a 2x4 in the hole we started with a shovel, And a couple of cinder blocks stacked up high under the 2x4. First I would bounce up and down on it ,riding it like a horse . When I would bounce down, she would shove another 2x4 into the space a little deeper each time. Than we would trade spots, and she'd get to ride"The Pony" . We laughed and laughed so hard the whole time, until Patty broke the Pony's Back ,and it popped out roots and all! The only thing I would have done differently would have cut the 2x4's into a point at the end , and had a cam corder running! Fun Times! Bye
We removed 10 juniper bushes from our front yard about a month ago...they are awful, prickly bushes and had deep and spreading root systems.

I put a hose at the base of each bush's trunk and set it trickle - I let it soak for ~1hr. Then we got a 12' length of chain and secured it around the base of each bush. We hooked the other end to a truck, then worked against the bush in jerky motions (accelerate away, reverse a bit, accelerate away, reverse a bit) until the bush was ripped free! It was incredibly satisfying each time one of those bushes popped out of the earth. Then we loaded up the truck with the carcasses of the bushes and were off to the dump. We had 10 bushes out in less than an hour...it really went fast once we'd figured out the rhythm with the truck.

Good luck!
USE A CHAIN! ROPE IS ELASTIC AND WILL STRETCH AND POP THE HELL OUT YOU WHEN IT BREAKS. also weaken the roots by cutting them with an ax or sharp shovel. don't use a chainsaw like the other idiot. if the chain gets to dirty then the bar oil cant lubricate the chain and it could also pop you or someone else.
