Anyone have an idea on how to get rid of mosquitos? I feel like I have tried everything...?
Question:candles, spray, yard spray. lanterns ect. and nothing works! I have the little circle things in my dogs stock tanks so that the water does not attract them. Cannot wear DEET because I am pregnant. I love going otuside but I am getting eaten alive by them! thanks

Citronella has always worked for me. Also if you can't use Deet, Avon Skin So Soft works well. I don't se why you wouldn't be able to use it even being pregnant, it's just body oil. I'm told mosquitos don't like the smell and it keeps 'em away.
There are baited traps that emit an attractive odor for mosquito's and then such them in with a fan that have reported success. Google mosquito trap and see if you can't find them, might have them at the home center.
Hi. Try this:

I used it to get rid of spiders and it worked and the site says it works even better to get rid of mosquitos. Also, if that doesn't work, check out your local health food store. They generally have some pretty good bug repellants (although they smell-but not more than chemical-laden ones).
I think I told you the other day to get rid of the standing water nearby...Man you must really be having trouble!! My Grandma, when she was alive used stuff called Skin So Soft, I do not know if they even make it anymore, but it worked well. Looking back it must have stunk too bad to have too many things come near. You could use this as a last resort! Good Luck!
Have you tried "TIKI TORCHES".We had them in the bushes at camp, they helped.Another, is mosquito coils.
If you only go out when the sun is shining, you shouldn't be attacked too badly. Nothing will be complete control, but some people have good luck with garlic (spraying yard with a garlic extract). Do a search on garlic and mosquito and you will find a lot of references and products.
Screen porches are wonderful...
Make sure you gutters are not filled with leaves.
I live in an area that naturally has many, many mosquitos. Spraying is counterproductive (do more to prevent predators than control mosquitos). Actually they don't bother us too much after the initial spring explosion.
You can by C02 machines which attract and trap the little pests. They work quite well and will trap them by the 1,000's.
There must be standing water in the area. If the mosquitos are biting from the knee down ,these are called homegrown mosquitos which translates to rain water sitting in small collections close to you. If you empty all of these small areas of water the mosquitos will instantly cease! The other type of mosquitos are from large bodies of standing water nearby, and the city or county will have to spray to control these type which bite from the knee up! Commercial type deet is approx. 80% and will keep the mosquitos off of you !! I use the good ole bug zapper which works very well. I hope all of this helps!
