About strawberries?
Question:I have some strawberry plants that bloomed the first season that i got them, that was 4 years ago. They haven't bloomed sinced and no blooms...no strawberries. They're June Bearers. They were planted in my front yard with morning sun. What am I doing wrong or are these strawberries jinxed? They do produce a lot of runners, and new plants.
Answers:
Too much nitrogen in your fertilizer will make leaf production and no blooms.
4 years? Rip them out and start over.
try planting the runners and see if they will have fruit on it .
Does it look a little dead and have you been watering it? It it looks dead or hasn't had water for a while, get a new plant. If not then give it a little more time.
Do you give them any plant food? you could try e.g. with a tiny amount of bbq ashes (not too much, it could burn), or with coffee or tea remains (the cold water with leaves or coffee powder) or just real plant food, or best alternative perhaps, with some compost.
In four years they have probably run out of nutrients where they are growing.
Maybe cut them back a bit, so new runners will grow? Maybe you have some insect problem... ants, aphids, and more. Are there any flowers blooming?
Add some fertilizer especially meant for fruits. Maybe that'll help.
strawberries are done after 2 years plant new ones every 2 years
