I have 5 acres of 1year old grass with lots of bare spots, am trying to let grass reseed itself.?
Question:The grass is tall in some areas with seeds and in other areas the grass isn't seeded yet. Wondering if the seeds have to fall off naturally or can you mow? Have spent plenty on grass seed and heard this would work. Any help appreciated.

1. i haven't the faintest idea.
2. what would you like this 5 acres to be? lawn? weeds?
3. you'll find that the weed seeds are far more prolific, and hearty, than the grass that you'd like to have.
4. why are there bare spots? lack of water? maybe you need a more drought tolerant seed.
it seems to me that when the grass gets tall and leggy, it never really comes back to a nice lawn. if that's what you want, you have to keep up with it.

if all else fails sod your lawn.
just fertilize the heck out of it and water the heck out of it and you will have grass coming out of your ears.
