Portulaca Question?
Question:Is this great looking ground cover an annual or a perinneal?
Answers:
Actually I have found out recently that there are both,They look almost alike. The perennial has slightly larger leaves and flowers. The annuals seem to come in more color.
BUT, let me say this one thing. The annuals reseed so vigorously you can confuse them with a perennial. They reseed the way rabbits breed!
Unfortunately it is an annual. It is so beautiful though that it is worth planting year after year!
There are several plants that, depending on your location, are annual and in other locations are perennial. I live in Central California where it is a perennial and I love it. It's great for adding color to bare, sandy, dry spaces that we have here.
I lived in New England for many years and the plants reseeded themselves each year. That would still make them annuals though,
It is an annual, however, depending on your climate, it may appear to be a perennial. It re-seeds easily, so it might appear to be a perennial plant, but it has an annual life cycle.

It is an anual, but you can over winter it in doors as a house plant. Also, this roots easily. Say if you have a broken piece, just remove a couple of the bottom leaves so they won't be under the water and keep them in water until you have a good root system
