Effective way to keep mushrooms from growing on my lawn?

Question:Is there anyway that will effectivly prevent mushrooms from growing on my lawn without killing the grass itself?

Answers:
mushrooms are a fungus and are usually found where a tree has died in recent years. if you look, you might notice the line of mushrooms follows where a root probably was. they row along the line of the decaying root.

you can dig it up or simply mpw over them. they will eventually use up theri food source (the decaying roots) and no longer be a problem. they usually only grow for a month or so and then no more problems!

hope this helps.

adjust the pH
The answer is almost always no. You can reduce watering or vary the pH, but another mushroom species will soon appear to fill the new niche. Mushrooms are a sign you're treating your lawn well and your soil is healthy. The mushrooms are breaking down lignins and cellulose into nutrients your lawn can use, think of it as composting in place. In addition the mushroom roots or mycelia form a symbiotic relationship with the roots of your grass by storing water. So if you kill the mushrooms you will need to water more. Just learn to appreciate another one of Gods little gifts, they'll be gone tomorrow. RScott
Mushrooms are a fungus. One of the things that causes a fungus to grow is watering your yard late at night, if you are doing this start watering early in the morning. Also if you see a few start to pop up go and get them out making sure you get the whole thing. A neighbor who lives across the street had a problem with mushrooms and didn't do anything about it, she ended up picking thousands of mushrooms out of her yard.
1- keep the grass nice and healthy
2- keep old rotted wood away
3- Don't keep stuff all over in the grass if it gets moisture on it it might grow a mushroom.
4- many mushrooms grow under trees so if you have less trees you might not get as many.
5- mow the lawn once a week
