Do the flowers called "Sweet Williams" come back every year?
Question:If so please tell me a good area to plant them (sun, shade etc.) Thanks!
Answers:
Sweet Williams are herbaceous biennials. Or short lived perennial. When planted from seed, the first year they do not bloom. But will come back one more year, and bloom, and drop seed. Then those seed grow into seedlings. When you have no bloomers, buy a few already in bloom from the nursery. Then you will have blooms every year. They like sun, but in the hot humid South they need some shade. See this reference below for more information.
In the northeast Sweet Williams are a perennial and return each year as well as multiply. Nice rock garden plant. you should plant them in mostly sunny areas, as that is where they will grow the best.
Sweet Williams are Perennials and do come back every year with the exception of those that got frozen. So plant them sun or shade doesn't matter just make sure it has an west blocking bush or building or something. That will protect them in the winter. Mine are 5 years old.
