What city department do I contact to get tree trimmed?
Question:I have a large magnolia tree in front of my house, on the side walk. A few months ago the some city people came to trim the other magnolia trees in my area, but did not trim ours! What city department do I contact to get it trimmed?
Answers:
I would call the main number of the city and ask. They might tell you to put in a request for what you want. This is no guarantee that they will do it though.
The electric department will cut trees that are close to their lines, I don't know of any others that would do it for free.
Lets see if we can break this down. The first word is "I", this means you. End of same sentence, "in front of my house". This also would assume you own the tree. The city probably trimmed trees on the "right of way" or "city property". You are responsible for trimming trees on your property. Try calling "Public Works" or the "Street Department", but I think you will get the same answer I just gave you. Good Luck!!
If your city is like mine they won't trim it until THEY decide it needs to be trimmed. Same goes for the electric companies. I begged them to trim my tree for 3 years. They finally trimmed it when the fire department called them because the tree knocked down the power line and scared the heck out of a bunch of senior citizens!
Call the forestry department.
