I have a perinneal plant with pink flowers in my flower bed?

Question:its getting too big, its bumping into the other flowers. i want to split it, but i dont know how. i do not want to kill it. do you know how to do this successfully?

Answers:
it's usually best to move perinneal plants in early spring as they are just starting to grow, or in fall, depends on the plant. I have moved things at all times of year and have always had luck but the key is to keep a good sized rootball and water really well. Good luck.

Most can be Divided with a little care. I just dig up the plant and wash away as much dirt as possible to see better Then you can either pull the sections apart (This how I do) or use a sharp knife or scissors to clip out the sections. Then replant and water well.
I look at the main plant as my Mother Plant. So the division is from around the outside, leaving my mother plant in center and well shaped.
Also, I like doing this late afternoon or on a cloudy day. I not like the direct sun on the roots.
