Question:

Answers:
set them out on your porch to air out.
febreeze may also help

Put them in the shower for a while.
try Febreeze or clorox spray cleaner. they have always worked for me!
Use frebreeze
febreeze?
damp washclothe?
Febreeze has always worked really well for me for this kind of thing. Just leave it out in the garage (if you have one) while you give it a couple daily spray-downs until it smells to your liking.
Why would you buy artificial trees?!
spray febreeze on it and let it sit outside til dried. I did that and it worked great.
Set them outside for a couple of days.
I would leave them outside for a few days. That way, the air can breath through the leaves. Whenever I put my clothes outside to dry they always come back smelling so nice and fresh.

Make sure the forecast doesn't call for rain :)
Try febreeze.
Febreeze! Seriously.
Try vingar and water. Wipe down the leaves with it. Also try putting a bounce dryer sheet in the pot. Works well.
smoke is basically grease. make up a soapy water solution and clean them up by hand. tedious, but effective.
i dont think you can. u can try 2 use like febres and lical, bot i dont think you can.

umm you can put vinigar in it and let it dry and that should get it out! the vinigar smell will come out when you let it dry!

GOOD LUCK!!
Take it out side spray it with water and vinegar and let it air out. the vinegar will take the smell out and the vinegar smell will go away
Home depot has a product called Smoke Eliminator by Dep. It takes out the smell, once you use this product you will be amazed. I've looked for it else where and no place has it but Home depot and the price is only 3.99 for a huge can.
use oust. it eliminates the oders.
or febreze which smells awesome.
Industrial cleaning places would use a ozonator. search google or yahoo for this. you can rent one, but for the price could probably buy a 55gallon drum of liquid cleaner
Here is a cheap and easy solution to this problem for you .If the trees can take it, put it in your bathtub and wash it with soap.

You can soak it in any dish washing liquid or spray it with a hand held shower on full blast or take it outside and hose it down if you have a yard and just sprinkle a few drops of any dish washing liquid on the tree, I personally prefer dawn dish washing liquid by any one would do.

After that dry it or wait till its dry and thereafter use a 1 part regular white vinegar 2 parts water solution in a spray bottle and douse it with spray (repeat as often as necessary).

The vinegar will smell for a few minutes but the smell of the vinegar quickly disperses and voila!! Smoke smell, pet smell any smell, gone.

Good luck
( granny )is correct but it is made by zep not dep (www.zepcommercial.com )( fabreeze is only temporary
There is silk plant cleaner that you can get from craft stores.

Other than that, I'd take them outside and hose them off thoroughly and scrub the leaves with some dishsoap and water. Afterwards spritz them down with vinegar and water and let dry.

The object is to remove the gummy tar and nicotene from the leaves.
Febreeze works wonders, Or put them in a bag and put some regular table salt in and shake them in the bag.
Spray with Fabreeze
Since your artificial trees probably have vinyl or plastic trunks or limbs and fabric leaves, they should be washable. I would (if you have a yard) take them outside, spray the trees with a good degreaser spray cleaner - what ever you usually would use to degrease should work. I have had good luck with 409 spray on things like this. Let the cleaner work for a few minutes (don't wait a long time, just a few minutes) and then spray off with a garden hose which has a pressure nozzle on it (not the heavy pressure nozzle, just a directional spray that will give it a little power to knock off the dirt). Then some time in the sun to dry and leave outside for a couple of days to air out. I think this will do the trick. I agree with 98 percent of your answerers that Febreeze and Vinegar are both awesome, but I think that Febreeze is temporary too. Smells good but does not always take out all the smell. I have had awesome results working with vinegar, but sometimes it also does not dissolve all the grease, and smoke is a greasy stain. Good for you for recycling the trees and getting a bargain. These things can be quite pricey and hooray for you for "fixin' them up good as new".
Tobacco smoke is deposited on the surfaces as an oil and therefore you need something to remove that oily surface that contains the tobacco odor.

An effective and relatively inexpensive mixture of one half quart of odor free Kerosene to a gallon of water is very effective in the removal of smoke odors from most surfaces. The Kerosene is miscible in water and will "mix" very well throughout the solution.

To that mix, do not add any soap or detergent as that renders the Kerosene ineffective in dissolving the oils of the tobacco smoke.

The most effective way, would be for you to purchase an inexpensive garden sprayer and spray the mix onto the leaves and tree of the artificial tree.

All you need do is final rinse with clear water, you do not need to use any detergent after you apply this mix, simply rinse with clean water hose and let sun dry in open air.

You can purchase the odor free Kerosene which is used in oil lamps at most hardware stores and even at places like Lowes or Home Depot.

You smoky odor, will for sure be gone using this mix.
Let them air out outside
