How are cultivated roses named?

Question:Roses like the 'Peace' Rose and 'Queen Elisabeth' and 'Princess Diana', are they named by growers or by some group or committee?

Answers:
if it is a new breed of rose the plant breeder can name the plant ( he/she chooses any name for the plant usually it is a woman's name) but a committee or association will check the names of the registered breeds so that there will be no conflict or double entries for the name.

usually it has something to do with the person that has grown them! if someones growing hybrids or such and they discover a new plant, they will give it a name right on the spot! so they are more or less just "made up " names!
