Gardening Question?

Question:My Partner & I have recently purchased a house and would really love to do up the gardens, we would like to do a tropical kind of feel but dont know what plants to use, as were on level 5 water restrictions! Please Help!

Answers:
Most tropical plants require a great deal of water...I'm talking any flowering plant, or bananas or gunnera, or those types. You could go with ornamental grasses and palms, yucca and dracena. They all are able to go long periods without water.

What zone are you in? I am in PA (Zone 5) so alot of tropical plants don't last through the winter. I have planted calladium, elephant ears as they have big leaves. Also chinese banana grows really well in the summer here. In an ideal world I would plant hibiscus because it is what I see all over Florida and the caribbean so I always associate it with tropical weather.
What zone are you in? That would be a good thing to know before planting tropicals. Also, if water might be a problem, yoyu might want to intersperse with a few more hardy plants.
i would go to a local nursery and see what plant thrive in you area and i would also go to you local co op and see what thet suggest also try nation arbor day foundation
