While driving in Virginia, I noticed a large amount of trees/areas that were covered in vines...?

Question:While driving in Virginia, I noticed a large amount of trees/areas that were covered in vines. I am curious about the vines as its not something I see in my area (NJ).

Answers:
Kudzu?, probably, but Virginia has a very bio-diverse vine list! Honeysuckle, one of my favorites because it strangulates dogwoods and other trees into bizarre shapes I use in cane making. I've seen a poison ivy vine as big as your thigh climb a dead tree giving the illusion the tree is alive. Along with Virginia creeper, the grapes, the ivy's, Campsis, Bittersweet, hops and a bunch of escapees from gardens. RScott

Dear Traveler,
I believe what you saw was called Cudzu. It covers everything. It is thick throughout the Carolina's and Georgia as well. It doesn't like cold areas.
