What can I use to prevent new growth on a tree stump?

Question:I have 2 dogs in the backyard so I'm looking for a non-toxic solution. I don't want to poison my dogs but I do want to poison the tree stump!

Answers:
Drill holes in the stump and dump salt rock into the holes thats what my friend did and his profession was removing trees and it will not hurt your dogs neither!

Set fire to the stump and let it burn to ashes.
There is a stump liquid that you put on a stump to allow it to start dying, bore holes in the stump and put it in the holes.
If there continues to be new growth, try some Roundup on it.
It kills a lot of things. Good Luck
i don't know about poison, but just cut the roots on the sides with an axle or something
paint the stub with non toxic paint
Spray it with 40% solution Round Up. Spray directly onto the stump when foliage can first be seen. The stump will absorb the herbicide and will not hurt the dogs.

But it is best to kill the stump where it won't sprout foliage. There are a number of stump killing chemicals on the market and any lawn and garden store should have them.

To get rid of the stump I use Liquid Plumber. I just drill about 6 or 7 1/4 inch holes in the stump as deep as I can get them. Then fill each with Liquid Plumber and cap the holes with a cork or some resin product. In about 2 months the stump will just crumble up. Since the holes are capped the dogs are not hurt.
Knock some COPPER nails into the stump.
