Does cat pee kill flowers?

Question:There are a couple of stray cats living in the field behind our house that we feed. They're using my mom's flower bed as a litter box, which she doesn't really have a problem with EXCEPT she's afraid the cat pee will kill her flowers. So far, it looks like they're just pooping in it, not peeing (she didn't smell cat pee). If they start peeing in it, will it affect the flowers? If so, is there any way to deter them from it without keeping them away entirely (we still want them to come and eat)? Will putting a litterbox out there for them help - do you think they'll use it?

Answers:
I've never noticed any ill effects from cat urine on my flowers. As you mentioned, they usually poop in the flower beds rather than pee. Cats are very neat and will usually dig a hole to use the bathroom, then cover it up. I think your mom's flowers will be fine with the kitties.

I don't think it will hurt the flowers. The only ill effect my cats have had on flowers has been when they chewed the blossoms or leaves off. I don't think putting a litter box outside would help anything. The reason cats use a litter box indoors is because they are looking for soil to poop in so that they can cover it when they're done. There's already dirt outdoors.
I don't know about cats, but dog pee will kill a potted plant.
