What kind of flowers can I plant in July that will flower through the summer and fall?

Most of your hardy heat tolerant annuals will bloom if you plant them in July. Zinnias, marigolds, sunflowers, cosmos, snapdragons, nasturtiums, impatients, petunias, begonias, strawflowers, salvias and my favorites geraniums. The list goes on and on. Just about any of them. You can also plant perennials like lavender, statice, astilbes, baby's breath, daisies, gazanias, lobelias, sea hollies, red hot pokers, chinese lanterns, hollyhocks and many more. Some of your perennials may or may not bloom this year. If they do not bloom do not give up on them. They will amaze you the following year. Make sure that you check the planting requirements on the individual plant type to see if it is suited for shade or part shade or full sun. The ones that I listed do well in full sun some will do ok with partial but it seems that they flower more with at least 6 hours of sun. Hope this helps and have fun.
Chrysanthemums are a great choice. They can take heat (if you water them regularly) and do well in cool weather also. Keep the spent blooms pinched back and they will rebloom over and over. They are actually a perennial so they will live year-round with a little care (water, plant food, and pinching back). I have several mums that are 3 years old and are doing great. Chrysanthemums come in lots of colors and sizes. See the linked article for more info. Good luck!

I agree with mums (chrysanthemums). Also, check out sedums. They have lovely foliage even when they're not blooming. Don't need sun but will tolerate it. Lovely fall red flowers until the snow comes. They multiply and you can move them around easily.
you can get mums they will last till the first frost
