How do I make the different shades on my lawn just like on a baseball outfield?
Question:On major league outfields, you can see two shades of grass. They are cut at the same length, but how do they make it look that way.
Answers:
it is cut in different directions but at the same lenght, but thers a roller on the back of the mower that flattens the grass as they cut it, they cut in different directions to get that effect with the flattened grass!
its not cut at the same length
you just mow in opposite directions
fake grass
I have been told that you cut it each time in the opposite direction than the time before but, have tried this myself with no such results. I'm pretty sure that it's bermuda grass that their using to acheive this result but i too have bermuda grass and still haven't been sucessful at acheiving this so, i hope someone has a better idea than i do because i too would love to know the technique.
Have a great Memorial day.
Mow in different directions, then follow it w/ a rake in the same direction that you mowed. Try to keep the same pattern each time you mow and rake to keep it lookin nice.
Daniel has the right answer. Also, the effect isn't as noticeable from the ground as it is from a higher vantage point.
